Cummins, the global auto parts manufacturer, announced on June 28 that in the next five years, Cummins will invest US$300 million to establish four new workshops in India. This includes an engine workshop. To this end, Cummins has acquired 300 acres of land in Maharashtra, India.
Anant Ialaulicar, general manager of Cummins India, revealed to reporters: “The company will establish four new workshops and related work is currently underway. Cummings will invest US$300 million in this for the next five years. One of the workshops is for the company and its joint venture partner Tata. The established engine production plant will have an annual production capacity of 60,000 units by the end of the fiscal year."
In addition to the engine production plant, the company will also establish a generator production workshop, a repair shop and a parts delivery shop.
The 300 million U.S. dollar construction fund will come from Cummins India and its joint venture partners.
