The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently announced that it would impose a penalty of US$7,000 per day on General Motors’ failure to respond in a timely manner to some of the issues related to the recall of the ignition switch.
After General Motors last month increased the recall of vehicles with faulty ignition switches to 2.2 million, the NHTSA submitted an inquiry letter including 107 questions to the company on March 4 and requested that the latter be before April 3rd.
