Stamping die is a kind of special process equipment that processes material (metal or non-metal) into parts (or semi-finished products) in cold stamping process. It is called cold stamping die (commonly known as cold die). Stamping is a pressure processing method that uses a mold mounted on a press to apply pressure to a material at room temperature to cause separation or plastic deformation, thereby obtaining a desired part.

The level of mold design and manufacturing technology is one of the important indicators to measure the level of manufacturing of a country's products, and to a large extent determines the quality, efficiency, and new product development capabilities.

There are many types of stamping dies, and die dies are also categorized according to work properties, mold construction, and mold materials.

Classification according to process properties

a. The blanking die creates a separate mold from the material along the closed or open outline. Such as blanking die, punching die, cutting die, cutting die, trimming die, cutting die.

b. The bending die causes bending of the blank or other blank along a straight line (bending line) to obtain a mold of a workpiece having a certain angle and shape.

c. Drawing dies are molds that make blank blanks, or further change the shape and size of the hollow parts.

d. Forming die is to directly reproduce the shape of the blank or semi-finished workpiece according to the shape of the convex or concave die, and the material itself only produces a partial plastic deformation of the die. Such as bulging die, shrink die, flaring die, relief forming die, flanging die, and so on.

According to the degree of process combination

a. Single-step die In a single stroke of the press, only a single stamping step is completed.

b. The compound mold has only one station. In the one stroke of the press, two or more punching molds are simultaneously completed on the same station.

c. Progressive die (also known as continuous die) In the feeding direction of the blank, there are two or more stations, and two or two stations are successively completed on different stations during one stroke of the press. The above stamping process mold.

According to the product processing method

According to the different processing methods of products, the mold can be divided into five categories: punching die, bending die, drawing die, forming die and compression die.

a. Punching die: The work is done by shearing. The commonly used forms include cutting die, blanking die, punching die, trimming die, full edge die, lapping die and punching die.

b. Bending Mould: It is the shape that bends the flat blank into an angle. Depending on the shape of the part, the accuracy and the amount of production, there are many different types of die, such as ordinary bending die, cam bending die, and curling Die, arc bending die, bend punch die and twist die.

c. Drawing mold: The drawing mold is to make a flat bottomed seamless container.

d. Forming dies: Refers to the use of various local deformation methods to change the shape of the blank, in the form of a convex forming die, a rolled edge forming die, a necking forming die, a hole flange forming die, and a round edge forming die.

e. Compression die: The use of strong pressure, the metal wool embryo flow deformation, to become the desired shape, its types are extruded die, embossing die, stamping die, die end pressure.

Mold typical structure composition

Process parts, such parts directly involved in the completion of the process and have direct contact with the billet, including working parts, positioning parts, unloading and pressing parts, etc.;

The second category

Structural parts, such parts do not directly participate in the completion of the process, nor do they have direct contact with the billets. They only ensure the completion of the mould process, or play a role in improving the function of the mould, including guide parts, fastening parts and standard parts. And other parts, as shown in Table 1.1.3. It should be pointed out that not all punches must have the above six parts, especially one-shot punches, but working parts and necessary fixing parts are indispensable.
