Miniature wearable devices can listen to the heart

A new sticky wearable sensor uses internal friction to help doctors diagnose different conditions. This type of micro-stethoscope will someday become a way for doctors to continuously monitor patients outside the clinic. So far it has tested a very small group of people.

This wearable device, less than a penny, can hear the beat of your implanted heart pump, your voice, and even whirring. It is like a temporary tattoo skin. Inside the device, there is an extremely sensitive accelerometer, because they can evoke the movement of sound waves through the blood flow of the body and body. Electrode measurement is an electrical signal of neuromuscular extrusion. These components are sandwiched between the silicone layer and elasticity, only about 2 mm at their thickest point. Right now, the device communicates via a wired computer, but researchers are trying to add Bluetooth to connect it to a smartphone.
The device has not yet been commercialized, but its potential applications include allowing doctors to monitor patients with the heart or to listen to studies on sleep snoring. Because wearable devices can also measure vibrating throats, when one is talking, researchers also plan to include wearable speech therapy trials.
