Gu Xianghua, deputy secretary-general of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, made a report on the “2007 China Auto Parts Industry Annual Conference†at the conference. In view of the fact that China's auto industry lacks self-development capacity, lack of key core technologies, and parts and components industry lags behind the development of the entire vehicle industry, the report proposes how China's automobile industry as a whole will drive the development of parts and components companies. What kind of parts and components supporting system, what kind of zero-setting mode, etc. The report pointed out that auto parts enterprises must unswervingly adhere to independent innovation and accelerate the pace of industrial mergers and reorganizations; vehicle companies should establish a sense of responsibility for driving the development of Chinese-funded auto parts enterprises, and increase their participation in international competition while integrating into the world. Later, Shi Jianhua, deputy secretary-general of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, briefed the delegates on the work of the association on industrial safety work. Shi Jianhua said that with the rapid growth of China's auto and auto parts exports, international trade friction pressure has been increasing. So far, China has encountered 48 anti-dumping cases in international trade disputes. With the support of the Ministry of Commerce, as early as the beginning of China’s accession to the WTO in May 2002, the Association took the lead in setting up the first anti-dumping consultation center for the industry in the country, the industry’s first warning department, and established an early warning mechanism for the damage of the automobile industry. Shi Jianhua stated that as a bridge linking the government and enterprises, the association will, as always, work hand in hand with relevant parties to promote the safe and healthy development of the automobile industry.
At the same time as the annual meeting of the parts and components industry was held, the summit forum for the development of auto parts and components was also held in the same period. The annual meeting and forum are under the direction of the Ministry of Industry of the National Development and Reform Commission and jointly sponsored by the China Automobile Industry Association and the Wuhan Municipal People's Government.
