Recently, Beijing Mercedes-Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. and Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile Sales Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the AQSIQ according to the requirements of the Regulations on the Management of Defective Automobile Product Recall, which was decided from July 26, 2017. From the date of the day, the following vehicles were recalled for a total of 398,429 vehicles:
(1) Beijing Benz Auto Co., Ltd. recalled some C-class, GLA, E-class and GLC SUV vehicles produced from May 6, 2015 to February 22, 2017, with a total of 348,939 vehicles;
(II) Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile Sales Co., Ltd. recalled some imported A-class, B-class, C-class, CLA, GLC coupe SUV vehicles produced from June 28, 2014 to December 29, 2016 A total of 49,490 vehicles.
The starting current limiter of some vehicles within this recall cannot withstand the overload under certain short-circuit conditions. If the starter is stuck for some reason (such as engine water intake), the driver still tries to start the vehicle many times. The generated current may cause the starting current limiter to overheat. In extreme cases, the parts around the starting current limiter may be ignited, posing a safety hazard. Beijing Mercedes-Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. and Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile Sales Co., Ltd. will install insurance for the starter wiring harness of vehicles within the recall range to eliminate safety hazards.
The Mercedes-Benz Authorized Service Center will notify the customer about the recall by registered mail. At the same time, users can call the service hotline for consultation.
