The ratio of the percentage of the useful component in the concentrate to the percentage of the useful component in the ore is called the rich ratio (or enrichment ratio). This ratio indicates the amount of useful ingredients in the concentrate, which is many times greater than the amount of useful ingredients in the ore. For example, copper sulfide ore, copper ore grade of 0.9%, copper concentrate grade of 18%, which is high-grade ore ratio is calculated as follows:
Rich ore ratio = [concentrate grade (%) / ore grade] (times)
=β/α=18/0.9=20
